Thank You Betty!

So, the other day I was making Piroshki and used my Betty Crocker cookbook for the bread dough recipe. While I was there I thought I would take a gander through the cookie recipes and see if she had anything different for me to try. I love to bake cookies (even if I shouldn't eat them!) Anyway, I made these and when I took them to work, they were a HUGE hit. Kent's co-workers, on the other hand, weren't so enamored. Why don't you give them a try and let me know what you think!

Jubilee Jumbles

2¾ c. flour
1½ c. brown sugar, packed (I used 1½ c. white sugar + 2 Tbs. molasses)
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. soda
1 c. dairy sour cream
½ c. shortening (or butter)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts, if desired
Browned Butter Glaze (below)

Mix thoroughly all ingredients except glaze. If dough is soft, cover and chill. Heat oven to 375ยบ. Drop dough by level tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched with finger. Immediately remove from baking sheet; cool. Spread with Browned Butter Glaze
Browned Butter Glaze
Heat 1/3 c. butter over low heat until golden brown. Remove from heat; blend in 2 c. powdered sugar and 1½ tsp. vanilla. Stir in 2-4 Tbs. hot water until of spreading consistency.

I'm anxious to hear what you think of these! Please leave a comment!
