Lazy Labor Day
After sleeping in a bit (crazy kid of ours set her alarm for 8am for some reason!) I got up and did an internet search for the perfect buttermilk biscuit recipe. I had some sausage thawed for biscuits and gravy for the family this morning. I found that, even though I've had some good recipes before, there is a reason that my biscuits are still quite heavy. According to the one site I found, it is because of the high protein content of northern flours! So, she suggested a 1¼ c. cake flour and ¾ c. all-purpose flour combination for the perfect biscuit. And ice cold butter. The biscuits I made today were indeed much tenderer than I've ever made before! Now, I'm going to try some of my other recipes using that combo to see what happens! The family was happy and I enjoyed my smoothie and bran muffin!! Now Kent is working on setting up the new computer we bought. Our other one was ANCIENT!! It was from 2003! :) We need to make a Home Depot run, a gas run and I need to work on the dress I want to make for Tiana and Robert's wedding this weekend! Phew! Better get off of here and get on it!! Have a great day -- and HAPPY BACK-TO-SCHOOL!!
