Since Tiana and I had the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, Kent took the day off and we all, including Aimee, went to Leavenworth on Sunday after Meeting. The drive over was HORRENDOUS!! The rain has engorged the rivers and the whole day was just drippy!! The roadside waterfalls are truly equivalent to the spring thaw! GROSS! At the Stevens Pass summit we stopped so that Aimee could build her first ever snowman. It was SOO wet! We were all soaked in the few minutes we spent there. Tiana slipped and fell right on her bum. Not so cool since she fell right onto the spot that was injured in the car accident. We made it into town and checked in to our hotel. They let us in a few minutes early so that was great! The girls immediately fell onto the bed and turned the TV on. Kent and I walked up to Starbucks and then came back and decided we'd best be getting ready for some dinner. We went to the end of the Ice Fest and stood in the rain to watch the fireworks that concluded the festival. They were pretty good for such a small town. And they lasted FOREVER!! Or at least it felt like it since we were getting more and more soaked by the minute! Kent and Tiana ended up in Andreas Keller LONG before Aimee and I joined them! We, that being Kent, Tiana and I, enjoyed our German dinner while Aimee ate french fries!! We tried!! We then went back to the hotel and went in the pool and HOT hot tub. It was quite relaxing. A bit more vegging and we were asleep. This morning dawned absolutely gloriously! The sky was blue, the sun shone and the day was really quite warm. We walked around the main street of Leavenworth, checked out the Australian Shop and in general enjoyed ourselves. On the drive home it started to snow as we neared the summit. Aimee had slept through the snowfall last week, so today she saw for the first time what it is when snow falls! We stopped at the summit again for her to feel it fall and to catch a flake on her tongue! As we headed down the mountain the rain just refused to let up. The rivers are even MORE engorged. Getting to be a bit dire in parts! Anyway, we made it home. We managed to get Aimee all packed! The girl's in love with "jumpers" (sweatshirts) and bought plenty. Um...they don't stuff so well! She's going home with a piece of us in the form of a carry-on suitcase! She had thought that a small bag would be enough, but this is pretty full yet! Aimee turns 18 on the 31st so we presented her with a Create-a-Tumbler with photos from our time together, as well as a rock she'd fancied in Leavenworth. The rock has the word "believe" on it -- the new word she's adopted for herself. We are going to miss her as she leaves tomorrow! Thank you, Aimee, for being a part of us for these last 10 days!
And I think I forgot this link before. We took Aimee to eat at KFC since she works there in Australia. It is not the same (nor as good, if you ask her!) as "back home"!! Hard to convince her, though, that this must be right because KFC originated here!! Also included are the pictures of the girls messaging themselves on Tiana's laptop -- each with their own Facebook open! Goofballs!
There are other random photos here, too!
